The shading/modeling technique of "stippling" is my favorite for pen and ink. Density of objects and their shadows are created by varying the distance between "dots" of ink. Value (light and dark) determines edges and form. As you can guess, this technique is not a quick draw. Most of these images take 16 to 24 drawing hours.

A colored pencil image is really a painting, primarily because many colored pencil artists create photographic-like images. I prefer to let much of the pencil strokes remain visible, therefore placing them more correctly in the drawing category. These images were drawn "en plein aire" on our property in the country. Finishing touches were made in the studio, mainly because daylight was waning.

Great care is taken
to prevent damage
during shipping,
but the corners and
edges of mats are
sometimes damaged.
Please be prepared to
re-mat images if
necessary with archival
quality mats
before framing.

Cha Cha was our beloved Collie/Shepherd mix, who, when we first got her, jumped right into the pool and scared the fish silly. We got her out, cleaned off the algae, dried her off, and she jumped right back in. She loved water. She would climb the boat ladder repeatedly for the purpose of jumping out into the water.

Easter Gift was an annual gift of gloxinias from my father. He would sometimes change to Easter lilies, but usually gloxinias, knowing how much I love them.

After the Rain was an experiment. I had purchased watercolor pencils about 10 years ago to create scenery mock-ups for a stage play. I had put them away, unconsciously categorizing them as "commercial". Needing to "loosen up", I began playing with them, with this serendipity result.

Moon's Aura is one of several ink and watercolor combos. I never tire of drawing and painting trees, especially with the moon.
