The word "abstract" actually means "taken from". Therefore, all visual art is abstracted from something in the purest sense of the word. Better terms for the category of artwork on this page would be "non-representational" or "non-objective", meaning that the image doesn't necessarily represent recognizable objects or geometric shapes. They do, however, always represent thoughts, ideas, and emotional responses to music, etc. My "Stained Glass Forest Series" on the landscape page are considered abstracted landscapes, because they represent trees and stained glass, and they are not photographic or "traditional" images.
